Malta Island’s hot Mediterranean climate means there’s plenty of sun so if you want to really make the most of what this island has to offer, head to the biggest seaside resort, Qawra.

A Qawra holiday is perfect for holidaymakers looking for sun, lots of fun summer activities and beautiful scenery especially as the resort has a seafront on three sides due to its peninsular setting. This means there’s plenty of space for everybody’s beach towel and there’s no shortage of dive schools or banana boat ride centres. There’s no beach in Qawra but the large flat rocks at the coast are ready-made sun loungers with an uninterrupted view over the turquoise waters. The rocky coastline also attracts lots of scuba diving fans and snorkelers and of course, the area is safe for swimming.

Qawra is also an ideal spot for exploring a bit more of the island. Its neighbour Bugibba has a reputation for being a bit livelier so why not head there and check out the nightlife? If you fancy a change of scenery (and some sand!), the attractive Mellieha Bay is only 8km away or a little further away you’ll find the island’s most popular beach, Golden Bay. Qawra is not far from the capital city Valetta where you can take a tour around museums and galleries and learn a little more about the island. If you’re staying for a longer break, it’s worth taking a trip down to the south of the island to see the Blue Grotto – a formation of caves and inlets famous for their beauty – toured by local boats.
